Hydrocarbon accumulation conditions and favorable exploration zones in the Lunpola Basin, Tibet

By systematically reviewing and summarizing the previous studies on petroleum geology of Lunpola Basin, combined with latest oil gas exploration results, accumulation conditions this basin are summarized, favorable zones most potential pointed out. The results show that: ① Paleogene mainly develops three sets source rocks, including Niu-1 section, Niu-2 section lower Niu-3 subsection. lithology is semi-deep deep lacustrine gray-dark shale. Among them, rock best. However, only developed in Jiangjiacuo depression. effective rocks have largest thickness central western parts best hydrocarbon-generating capacity. abundance decreased eastward. organic matter Type I II 1 , a maturity 0.58%–1.08%. ② study area dominated by clastic reservoirs, which can be divided into types according to strata distribution, overall reservoir not good. porosity between 0.1% 32.6%, 2.0% 10.0%, an average 6.5%; permeability 0.0005 mD 116.0 mD, 0.01 0.5 means ultra-low permeable fracture-porous reservoirs. ③ Three seals two regional middle subsection Dingqinghu direct seal upper These well good preservation relatively stable depression footwall thrust nappe structural belt . ④ reservoirs Basin distribution law “structural traps north south, lithologic center”.
